5 Simple Secrets of Famous, Successful Writers
--
Wondering how the world’s most revered writers became so successful?
While every writer has to find his or her own path to getting published, you might want to try adding these simple changes to your writing routine today!
Five Things Famous Writers Regularly Do — That You Can Do Too
1. Read.
Most well-known writers are avid readers. Stephen King instructs, “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.”
2. Get physical.
Sleeping, and exercising schedule when he’s actively writing a new book. Treat your body well, and your body will support the exertions of your mind.
3. Block distractions.
When you sit down to write, do what the pros do: turn off your cell, hang a “do not disturb” sign on the door, maybe even wear noise-cancelling earplugs (whatever it takes!).
Professional writers focus on one thing writing.
4. Write for your audience.
Forget writing for a specific market. Forget writing to impress a teacher, friend, agent, or spouse. Write what you want to read. Write what you love. Authenticity and passion will take you far.
5. Reward yourself.
If your idea of being rewarded means tons of fan mail and big royalty checks, keep in mind the words of Anne Lamott: “The act of writing turns out to be its own reward.”
